Our New Staff Wildlife Haven
Published date: 23 September 2022
As part of the environmental work we are doing, Calendar Club are transforming an area of wasteland by our premises into a Wildlife Haven for our staff. Our vision is to have an easily accessible place where diverse wildlife can thrive, and staff can go to relax in a natural and beautiful environment.
The haven will provide a number of different types of habitat, and will be well populated with seating areas accessed by crushed stone paths. These paths will take walkers past dense native shrubland, a wild orchard (crab apple, wild plum, etc), a naturally populated pond, a wildflower meadow, and an undulating scrubland, before joining a bridge, over the stream, that provides access into a woodland with seating areas and a perimeter path. Our hope is that this will be a very unique and special place.
Phase 1 of the haven is about constructing the framework that will be planted and built on, once it’s done. It will involve laying the paths, building the bridge, digging and installing the pond, and installing the hard standings, as well as clearing some scrub.
